The Natuary Approach to Tough Stains

The Natuary Approach to Tough Stains

Grass on the knees, pasta sauce on your favorite white tee, a little grease from dinner. Laundry has a way of collecting evidence.

The good news is that a stubborn stain does not automatically mean a garment has reached the end of its life. With the right combination of enzymes, surfactants, minerals, and a little time, you can give heavily soiled clothes another shot.

Natuary’s laundry system is designed around three steps: treat the stain, wash it thoroughly, then give the load a boost when it needs one.

Here’s how to tackle even the toughest laundry stains without reaching for chlorine bleach (or tossing out a perfectly good garment).

Step 1: Treat the Stain Before it Goes in the Wash

The sooner you treat a stain, the better. Natuary Stain Remover is a highly concentrated blend of biobased enzymes and plant-powered surfactants formulated to target stubborn stains and trapped odors. It can be used on everything from food spills and grease to blood, soil, grass, juice, and pet accidents.

Spray the affected area directly and let the formula get to work. For fresh stains, rinse the fabric if needed, spray Stain Remover generously over the spot, and gently scrub with the bamboo brush before washing. For tougher or set-in stains, allow the formula to sit for 1 hour to overnight before washing with Natuary Laundry Detergent Concentrate.

For ground-in dirt or mud, you can apply a small amount of Laundry Detergent Concentrate directly to the stain after soaking to give it an extra cleaning boost. For especially stubborn stains, such as heavy grease or petroleum-based messes, apply Stain Remover first, then follow with Natuary Household Cleaning Concentrate diluted to the Deep Clean ratio for an added surfactant boost. Always check the stain before putting the garment in the dryer, as heat can set stains and make them more difficult to remove. Repeat the treatment if needed, and always follow the garment care label for fabric-specific instructions.

Why Enzymes Work

The enzymes found in the Stain Remover are highly specific stain fighters:

  • Protease breaks down protein-based stains such as blood.
  • Lipase targets fats and oils, including grease from food.
  • Amylase breaks down starchy food stains such as pasta sauce.
  • Cellulase works on plant-based stains including grass, mud, and fruit juice.
  • Urease helps break down urine-related residue and odors.

Think of them as microscopic specialists. Each one has a particular type of mess it knows how to break down.

Step 2: Wash with Laundry Detergent Concentrate

Once the stain has had time to loosen, run the garment through your normal wash cycle with Natuary Laundry Detergent Concentrate. The formula combines biobased enzymes with amino-acid-based and plant-derived surfactants to break down grime, grease, stains, and odors. It is formulated to rinse freely in both hard and soft water.

For a standard HE load, use 8 ml of detergent (1st line on the beaker). For extra-soiled loads or non-HE machines, use 16 ml (2nd line on the beaker). The detergent's enzyme system continues the work started by the Stain Remover, while surfactants help lift loosened soil from the fabric.

Please note that we do not recommend using vinegar with Natuary Laundry Detergent or OxyBoost. Vinegar is acidic and can interfere with the performance of both detergents and oxygen-based cleaners.

Step 3: Give Stubborn Laundry an OxyBoost

Some loads need another level of cleaning power. That’s where Natuary’s OxyBoost comes in.

OxyBoost is a three-ingredient mineral-based formula made with sodium bicarbonate, sodium percarbonate, and sodium citrate. Sodium percarbonate releases oxygen when mixed with water, helping break down stubborn organic matter while brightening fabrics and deodorizing.

For laundry needing an extra refresh, add 1 scoop directly to the washer drum before adding your clothes. For large or very dirty loads, use an additional scoop. Paired with Natuary Laundry Detergent Concentrate, OxyBoost helps tackle stubborn residue and odor.

A Little Patience + TLC

Set-in stains have had time to settle into the fabric. Giving a treatment time to work can make a meaningful difference.

That’s why Natuary Stain Remover is designed to sit for up to overnight on tougher stains. The enzymes need time to interact with the specific materials they are designed to break down.

So before you write off the shirt, pants, bedding, or favorite pair of leggings, give the stain a proper treatment. And before you toss anything in the dryer, take a quick look at the treated area. If the stain is still visible, repeat the treatment rather than drying it, since heat can set stains and make them more difficult to remove.

Sometimes your laundry just needs a little TLC!
