Everything Here Has a Job to Do

There is a common request in modern cleaning that one product should do everything: counters, floors, dishes, laundry, hands, produce.

It sounds efficient and reads well on a label. But in practice, it usually leads to compromise.

Chemistry does not work that way. Neither does regulation. Neither does skin.

At Natuary, every formula is built with a clear job in mind. When a product tries to be everything, it usually becomes mediocre at most things. That’s why specialized cleaners exist!

Why Specialization Matters

Different messes require different tools. Deodorant stains on your shirt respond differently than dust on shelves. Each scenario has its own chemistry, its own pH range, and its own mechanical needs.

An all-in-one formula sits in the middle, and that middle ground is rarely optimal.

Specialized cleaners allow us to:

  • Use the right pH for the job
  • Choose surfactants that target specific soils
  • Include enzymes or minerals where they actually make sense
  • Avoid unnecessary ingredients where they do not

The result is better performance, less residue, and clearer guidance on how to use each product safely.

The Role of Natuary’s Household Cleaning Concentrate

Our Household Cleaning Concentrate was designed for hard, non-porous household surfaces: counters, floors, sealed wood, and tile. Everyday messes that benefit from surfactants and probiotics working together.

It was specifically designed to not be soap.

It contains a probiotic system that continues breaking down organic matter on surfaces over time. It is also highly concentrated and sits at an alkaline pH of around 10. Although safe on skin, it is not intended for repeated skin contact. Using it as hand soap would increase the likelihood of dryness and more importantly, it would move the product into an entirely different regulatory category.

Why We Do Not Position Household Cleaning Concentrate as Hand Soap

This is a regulatory distinction, not a philosophical one. In late 2022, the United States implemented the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA), which clarified and reinforced that any product used to cleanse the human body is regulated as a cosmetic unless it is made exclusively from saponified fats. Traditional soap remains exempt under this definition; surfactant-based cleaners do not.

Our Household Cleaning Concentrate is surfactant-based. That means if it were marketed for hand washing, it would legally be considered a cosmetic and subject to FDA facility registration, safety substantiation, and specific cosmetic labeling standards under MoCRA. We do not position it that way because, first, that is not its job! But also, it’s because we know household cleaners and personal care products are held to different safety benchmarks. If other brands claim their household cleaners double as hand soap, they are responsible for meeting those rigorous cosmetic regulatory standards.

A Necessary Distinction

While countertops and stovetops are considered environmental surfaces, anything that directly touches your food (like plates, utensils, and the food itself) is subject to much stricter safety standards. Household cleaners are designed to clean the surfaces around your food, not food surfaces.

Just because something goes near your mouth does not make it food. Our Household Cleaning Concentrate is suitable for cleaning environmental surfaces (stoves, countertops, etc.) when used as directed. It is not intended for washing dishes, utensils, or produce (as those items require different rinse-off protocols and safety standards).

Clear boundaries protect both performance and safety.

Clear Jobs + Better Outcomes

Specialized cleaners are not about selling more products. They are about using chemistry with intention.

Each Natuary formula exists to do their designated role well. No vague promises. No blurred lines between surfaces, laundry, skin, and food.

And when every product stays in its lane, cleaning becomes simpler, safer, and more effective. That’s why everything at Natuary has a job to do!
